name: Qannik pronunciation: Qu one ike meaning: Snowflake alias: Nik
age: 3 1/2 Years gender: Female breed: Border Collie
appearance: The dance of snow entwining about a sleek compact frame, it's pristine color marred by a spot of ebony gracing the left side of that barrel. One floppy soldier mountain atop that narrow cranium bore its dual toned combo proudly, its back a solid white while the front remained enshrouded in onyx. Its brethren held no trace of that angelic color, instead its cover was holey made up of onyx. The depths of that gaze may have been deceiving to those who held their distance, for without close inspection they look to be pure black against the snow falling gently across delicate features. In the brilliant sunlight their secret treasure would be revealed in the sparkling flecks of gold that lit her gaze from within.
personality: Pride could be found in the lift of that chin, the dainty elegance was second nature to this canine. That doesn't mean she is afraid to get down and dirty when need be, quite the opposite actually. Strong in her beliefs, she is not one to be easily swayed by a pretty face or charming words. Instead she lingers in the shadows, a ghostly sentry. There are times when one would assume she was nothing more than an arrogant lady, believing she felt she was above others, but this was not the case. Do not let the exterior fool you, deep inside she is painfully shy, reclusive even within a group of any size. With the fear of being touched, a gift from her 'pampered' life, only enhancing her solitary nature with a dash of loneliness.
history: From an early age she was different, preferring to play by herself then with the others. Even the white of her pelt differed from her siblings blacken forms. It would seem she was bound in appearance and attitude to be the opposite of her kin. Nearly completely ignored by both parents, Qannik learned early on about survival even in a pampered home. Oh the humans, they had adored her coloring, found her unique. But that didn't always make for something desirable. Paraded on a leash where her master allowed any two-legger to walk up and touch her. The violation, however innocent, brought about a fear of being handled. The day she had been tossed into the streets had started out as any other. Bathed and groomed to a sparkle, diamonds at her throat while mistress pranced, tugging her along from store to store. There were other dogs being dragged along such quests, but their smaller stature and protective masters kept prying hands from smacking little heads or rumps, or the dreaded pounding against the side. It had been the store attendant that held her jeweled leash, reaching down to roughly run his hand along her neck up to her head. It had been the clenching of those fingers pulling at her long glistening white fur with a painful intent that caused her to react without thought. Simply snapping. Amid the sudden ear piercing screams, and complete panicked chaos, Qannik had attacked. The docile, pliant creature had cost the man all function in that arm. How she ended up in the mistresses car and back home she never really recalled. That night after being locked far from any other living being the man had come, and with a savage kick to her rump he'd tossed her to the streets, coat still crimson black from the wounds she had caused.
