name: Trakaen
pronounciation: Trakine
alias: Trakaen
age: 4 years old
gender: Male
breed: Border Collie/German shepherd mix
appearance: Trakaen has the frame and structure of a Border collie, with the pricked-up ears and inquisitive face, whilst having the markings and colours of a German shepherd. He is predominantly brown and black, but has patches of white in certain places, like his paws, one ear and the tip of his tail. He doesn’t have anything obvious that distinguishes him, nothing too noticeable about his appearance, except maybe his eyes, which are a stunning pale blue.
Trakaen is quite a muscular dog, and is fit, living up to his working dog background. He does have one scar, on the inside of his back left leg, which he got in a misfortunate accident with his last owners other dog.
personality: Due to Trakaen working as a guide dog since he was a puppy, Trakaen has a naturally submissive nature, keen to please and easy to order around. He has been trained to never fight back if someone or something acts aggressively towards him, something which could be his downfall one day. He does have a friendly nature, which you can plainly see by his playfulness which has shown though since he left his owner, giving him a chance to ‘come out of his shell’ a bit.
Though Trakaen is not a weak or cowardly dog, he finds it hard to stand up for himself or others he cares about, even if it is causing him pain physically or mentally. He went through a year and a half of Guide dog training, and had it drilled into his nature to never fight back, never attack anything, no matter what. He still finds it hard to go against something which someone has told him to do, no matter how wrong he thinks it is.
history: It was only by chance that Trakaen was accepted as a possible candidate for the Guide dog training, as he was not a purebred dog, of one of the breeds which is normally classified as ‘guide dog’ material. He was picked up by a private trainer who saw his potential, and was eventually puppy walked and trained, and later on sold to an elderly blind woman by the time he was two.
The woman already had a dog, which wasn’t trained as a guide dog (The woman had only recently become fully blind) which acted aggressively towards Trakaen from the start, eventually giving him his scar on his leg. The woman refused to get rid of one of the dogs, and later died of old age.
At this point the two dogs were taken into a dog care home, and the other dog was immediately snapped up by a family seeing it’s potential as a family dog. Trakaen waited, and waited, but Guide dog agencies wouldn’t go anywhere near him, ex-guide dog, trained by a private trainer, who’d even think of taking him? And no families would take him, not if he wouldn’t fight back for himself or his family, they just couldn’t take that risk.
So Trakaen waited, until he was four, and then the home couldn’t afford to keep him anymore, if he wasn’t getting sold. So he was put in for the pound. He stayed there for two months, dreading, knowing what was coming. So, on that fateful day when he was pulled by his collar from his cage, for the first time ever, he lashed out and bit the man holding him. He managed to escape, but now lives in guilt of what he did, and fear of what is to come.
((I know, this isn't great, but I hope you don't see this ^ as an example of my ability, I was feeling really writing blockish today >.< so if you'd like me to re-write it, I'll do so happily.))
