name: Dakoda
pronounciation: Da-kod-a
alias:
age: three years
gender: Male
breed: Rhodesian Ridge back
appearance: Like any other Rhodesian ridgeback, Dakoda's most distinguishing feature is the ridge of hair along his back, running in the opposite direction to the rest of his short, golden coat. It consists of a fan-like area formed by two 'crowns' of hair, and tapers from behind his shoulders down to his hips. The ridge is about 2 inches in width at its widest point, and about 2 centimetres at it's shortest. Dakoda has, like his fur, Bright golden eyes that don't really stand out much. They just blend in with the rest of him, making him indeed, very gold looking. His ears, snout and paws are slightly darker then the rest of his body.
Dakoda has a teal/green collar, that he keeps around his neck at all times; It reminds him of his owner before she died, so It would hurt him greatly if it were to break or get taken off.
personality:Dakoda is very hardy; meaning he can go days without food, live in extreme environments and walk without rest for quiet some time without getting tired. because of his breed, Dakoda is very brave, as ridge backs were bred to chase lions away from African villages. He always faces things head on, and never runs from anything if he can help it. Dakoda is a generally nice person, often helping people who need it or giving stuff up to benefit another. You could call Dakoda selfless, but what he can't stand are people who love themselves, or are extremely arrogant. He will make an exception if the person is okay other then that, or he has spent a lot of time with them, but he just doesn't get on with them.
In a simple nutshell, Dakoda is headstrong, and will run from nothing. He's kind, Hardy and speedy, all rolled into one.
But no one can be perfect, It's just not possible. That's why Dakoda's bravery goes a little bit too far, bordering insane even. If he were to face a group of aggressive rottweilers, He still wouldn't run from them; but stay and fight. This bravery of his has gotten him in trouble many a time, and he has been left with a large, deep scar running along his right eye due to a fight with a gang of dogs; He barely survived, yet he still hasn't learned. Dakoda still runs head first into everything, never thinking about the consequences or his own safety.
A little Insane, Don't you think?
history: Dakoda's parents were both Rhodesian Ridge backs who belonged to a rich pensioner that lived in the sleepy British country side. Dakoda was planned of course, or he would have been dropped off at the pound straight away. He lived happily with his family, playing with his siblings and and owner. But one day the old woman who owned the manor died, and him and his family were sent to the pound. Him and his siblings were adopted out quickly, but his parents were deemed too old, and were put to sleep.
Dakoda was adopted by a marathon runner at two ears of age, who changed his name from Charles to Dakoda, because he didn't like his 'too formal name'. He lived happily with him for a while, running with his owner and playing fetch most of the day.
But one day Dakoda's owner never came back; meaning he had to live on the streets from then on.
Dakoda survived well on the streets; As he was larger and more hardy then other breeds of dog that roamed there. And was thankful that he was physically fit, like his breed was well known for. He didn't get into many fights while he was on the streets then, be them verbal or physical; As Dakoda had always been a very non-confrontational sort of dog.
