The strong legs of a seemingly aggressive dog walked along the side of the road, sniffing. Food. It was the one thing on his mind at the moment. His life of killing other dogs for food was over, but still the urge was there as he saw those stuck up miniature poodles walking down the streets, proud of their leash and the bows in their fur. Pathetic. He would eat them for breakfast if they had been his opponents in the fights. He still might, just for fun... But where would that get him? A one way ticket to the pound and with it the death kiss of a needle. He had seen it come towards him once, and he had gotten away. Nothing good came out of those needles with the discolored liquid in them. Nothing good at all. That's why if he ever went back to the humans, he'd face death. Face it, pitbulls and pitbull mixes- especially with rottweiler- do not survive the pound. They are seen as enemies and fighters, which is what most humans make them become. And when they look them in the eye, they put them to their final death, without another thought. That's why he lived here, on the streets. Why he thrived on the meat of birds and rabbits instead of dogs. If he was caught eating another dog, it'd be the end of him.
Paws slowly walked onto the sand of the beach as he padded along, his eyes searching for a bird that was close by. There, on the dock, was a bird sitting injured, unable to fly for it had gotten its wings too soaked in blood. It floundered around and for a moment he took pity on it, then gave it the final kiss of death and started feasting on the seagull, thinking about his life.. all his life he'd done just what the humans had made him do.. even now that he was free, the one thing he could never escape doing if he was to survive; kill.

The young female greyhound was stretched out on the warm sands of the beac, her auds twitching every now and again, the water and its soft, gentle breaking of the waves filted through her ears as she relaxed. Her dazzling red fawn coloured pelt blending in with the golden particles of the sand, her beautiful chocolate coloured orbs covered by her eyelids, her long whip like banner flicking rhythmatically to the world around her.
Insylus loved long hot days like these, the beach was her favourite place to relax under the sun, but she always kept to a part of the beach that was human free. She didnt have much memory of the two legged beings that seemed to be everywhere you looked, but she was always wary of them, she knew that they could be dangerous, but she also knew that not all of them where mean, but she never wanted to take the risk.
After a while she pushed her forelegs into the sand and sat up, letting out a lazy yawn she looked around, the sky was cloudless and the beach was quiet, she smiled happily to herself. Her auds flickered as a sharp, loud, screeching noise bit at them, she turned her sleek head to the direction of the noise. She tilted her apex slightly as she watched a large male up on the dock only a few hundred yards away, his body seemed tense and he had an angry appearance, but he was intriguing to watch as he killed the seagull and proceeded to devour it.

The male was devouring the seagull in his deep thoughts. A killer. That is what he was. And nothing could change that. Even if he changed, the scars on his body were proof that he had fought, so if he ever met a human... He did not even want to think about it. No human could be a good human to him. None. None would accept a killer. A female dog would never accept him. And just as he thought this a smell came to his nostrils, and he noticed a slender femme staring at him. He smiled a doggy smile and it faded. Was she laughing at him or playing some sick mind game? It had to be, no female had ever looked at him unless it was in disgust. Yet he stared at her, seeing first her eyes and then the rest of her. Everything about her was strikingly beautiful... Something in him yanked his stomach, making his legs tremble. Never had he known such nervousness, not in battle or near the humans. Slowly, he walked towards her, mighty legs shaking uncontrollably. He sat down a few feet away from her, looking into those deep eyes. "Not many stare at me... without running away when I come forward." He started. He looked down. Fool! How foolish. He could come up with nothing better? "I am Bones. Or what the humans called me at least.. so I am stuck with it."

She blinked her large, chocolate pools as he lifted his head to look at her, she flashed a quick smile back at him, she let her eyes sweep across his form swiftly. He was muscular, strong and very well built... a fighting dog, he was large and intimidating, yet Insylus did not feel scared or threatened. Her auds twitched a little as he approached, but she remained sitting where she was, curling her banner around her paws, her optics meeting with his as he sat himself a few feet from her.
She chuckled lightly at his comment "i could run away if needed, but i see no need" she smiled softly at him, she had to admit, that although this male was a fighter and his appearance was battle worn, he was handsome, she tilted her smooth, defined apex cutely to one side "i'm Insylus... Insy" she let the words roll off her tongue, allowing her soft, silky voice to flow to his auds freely.

The ears of the male lifted slightly and perked forward. She was saying she could run away, but she chose not to. Why? Why was she so foolish to think that he would not kill her too, like all the rest? Maybe because.. he wouldn't... not yet, anyway. At the moment he did not feel the need to fight her away or hurt her, for she seemed... delicate... Dainty. Something to be held and treasured, a beautiful piece of artwork that needed... No. He could not let himself soften so quickly. But as he looked into her big brown eyes he let a soft smile come to his lips and he reached forward, nipping at her ear gently. "Come on.. I got some of my meal left." He said quietly, but smiled just a little and winked one black eye at her. For once, his rough appearance did not seem to threaten another dog... for once, he seemed almost docile. For once, he actually cared.

She watched his facial expressions, taking them in and working then out in her mind, he seemed slightly held back, tense even, maybe even slightly nervous around her, but he needn't be. Insylus was a very intelligent kind of dog, and unlike most, she didnt react in the way she was supposed too, she seemed to just ignore her gut feeling, for some reason she felt like this Bones character wasnt going to harm her, despite his appearance and his obviously 'trained to kill' mind.
She blushed a little as he gently nipped at one of her semi - erect auds, though it didnt come as a suprise when he offered her the rest of his meal. Elegantly she rose to all four paws and gave her tail a flick, she moved her athletic frame past him smoothly, flashing her orbs in a subtle, flirty way, to his momentarily. She lurched forwards into a trot, her white paws padding lightly on the sand, hardly a sound to be heard, her long legs and toned muscles moving effortlessly and easily.
She moved up onto the dock, her claws making small, dull clicking sounds against the wood, she slowed her gait to a walk and then stopped before what was left of the seagull, she sat back on her haunches and let her eyes wander back to the male.

The male watched her as she raised up onto all fours and walked past him. He caught a flirtatious glance as she elegantly strode past him. He tilted his head and smiled, an almost cute look for him. Then before he knew it she was several yards away. So fast! And so dainty at the same time, almost like she was walking on air! He looked after her and followed her to the dock, his muscular body jogging, feeling the wind through his ears and into his eyes. Then he switched into a careless lope, a bit faster but just a bit more fun. He arrived at the dock panting, slowing to a jog as he strode across the wooden boards. He saw her sitting there looking at the food and he sat beside her. After thoroughly catching his breathe he said, "You may eat as much as you like.. or.. out of whats left." He said, looking at his dinner remains. He looked to her and smiled, then gently reached over and licked her on the nose. As he did so he felt amazing butterflies and a sort of flushed feeling. The sun was setting before them, and he made a point to say, "Beautiful...."

What on earth was wrong with her? She knew something was wrong the moment that giddy feeling of excitement took over her body as she watched Bones lope towards her with an expression of that he suddenly didnt have a care in the world. For one fleeting moment it was easy to forget that this large and happy looking dog was infact a trained killer, but Insy could see past it, she somehow knew that Bones would never cause any harm to her, she felt safe and protected, though the reality was, she had only just met him.
She felt her heart flutter inside her chest as Bones ran his tongue over her shiny black nose, but her heart seemed to skip a beat as the male spoke the last word, beautiful, she felt her legs turn to jelly beneath her, if she hadnt been sitting down she would have fallen over. She smiled at Bones, letting her eyes fall to his, gazing for a moment into them, a strange warm glow seeming to encase its hold around her body.... is this what love felt like? No, no, that couldnt be right, how could she love him, she had only known him for 5 minutes, thats not enough time to fall in love, is it?
Quickly pulling back from her stray thoughts and letting her eyes drop from his to the remains of the bird. She raised herself to all fours again, her legs still feeling a little shakey, but she ignored it, she lowered her apex down, sniffing at the carcass instinctively before stripping the leftover meat from the bones, careful to avoid any of the small, hollow bones, a splintered bird bone stuck at the back of her throat was the last thing she wanted. After finishing, she sat back and began to groom herself, letting her salmon pink tongue glide smoothly and swiftly across her fine, silky furs, though from the corner of her eye, she was watching Bones.

Bones felt at ease, at least until he felt the tension in the air. But she seemed relaxed, so it was obviously in his head, right? He laid down and let his eyes fall closed. Was this feeling love, or some silly crush? It had to be love, for he had never felt so protective of any other dog nor human before. Suddenly he felt like he would give his life for her saftey, search for hours just to see her again. And he realized that in these moments he would fall asleep and wake up... and she would be gone. So he forced his eyes open, looking at her with only his eyes. It had fallen dark now, the stars were starting to shine from above and the waves glistening from the moon light. He watched her groom herself, then closed his eyes and yawned. He was tired, and needed sleep, but fear that she would be gone come morning kept him awake.
