name;; Black Jack
pronunciation;; bl-ah-ck j-ah-ck
alias;; Jack
age;; two years
gender;; male.
breed;; picardy shepherd [berger de picard]
appearance;;
Black Jack is a pretty normal looking berger picard. Starting from the head he has a broad and slightly domed skull. His muzzle is very powerful and is the same length as his skull. Jack has black lips and sort of yellow teeth that meet in a scissor bite. He has a large black nose and huge ears, one of which always stands fully erect and the other usually slightly folding over at the top. Both ears are broad at the bottom and curve slightly at the top. He has a long, strong, muscular neck and always holds his head high.
Black Jack has large and evenly muscled shoulders that lead to straight and powerful forelegs. His body is slightly longer than it is tall (with him standing at a good 25 inches at the withers). His chest is slightly deep allowing for a strong bark and his ribs are sprung out enough to form a strong, straight back.
Back legs are long and well muscled as well and his feet are compact and round. He has firm pads and all of his dewclaws have been removed. His tail is thick at the base and tapers until the tip. Normally his tails falls down to his hocks, curving slightly at the tip and keeps this curve no matter how high or low it is carried.
Jack has a rough and shaggy double coat. While the fur carries many knots and tangles, it still generally shags down as it should. His coat naturally grows to about 2 inches thick, not needing to get any longer with his dense under coat. However, the fur upon his head is naturally shorter. The fur above his eyes and around his muzzle grows longer but does not interfere with his vision, as in it does not grow over his eyes. He is a mixture of colors with darker areas on his ears, shoulders, hips, and tail. Finally, he weighs about 45 pounds and walks with a sort of limp in his right hind leg.[3|3|9]
personality;;
Black Jack is a compulsive liar, and he knows it. He doesn't actually mean to be one and will fess up to any lies he has said if he is called on it. Jack is more respectful of those who know he is lying and those who can figure him out and actually read him. Not that that is really that easy with his awesome poker face and all. Matter of fact, if you didn't know his stories were impossible and could never actually happen to him, you would never know he was lying to begin with.
Besides being a liar, Black Jack is a dare devil and a gambler. He isn't afraid of anything and will never back down. Instead he laughs in the face of danger and anyone who threatens him. This could prove to be quite harmful to his health someday, but as of now it has only caused minor injuries. Black Jack likes a challenge and enjoys thrills and pulling stunts. He never worries about anything and tries his hardest to keep other dogs' worries off his shoulders.
Jack is charming if he tries to be and can be a good ladies man. Once he has found interest in someone, he is also not likely to back off and may often appear to be a stalker. He really doesn't mean to be one though and would easily leave them alone if they asked but likes to try anything he can to show his interest in others. While it may seem a little odd to keep seeing him, Jack plays it off as a coincidence each time.
Jack is strong willed and believes it is his way or the highway. He is stubborn and refuses to give in to things he doesn't want. He can be a sore loser and would rather throw a fit and do something on his own than sit around and go with an idea he doesn't want to. Black Jack likes to be in charge and doesn't appreciate others telling him what to do. He has a temper and gets real ticked off sometimes, but usually does not act on his impulses.
Finally, Black Jack is a thief and almost a kleptomaniac. He will take anything he really wants and like any feral dog steals what he feels he needs. Jack takes what he wants when he wants it and only gives it back if he feels like it. He is a dog who does what he wants when he wants and does not take orders from anyone.[4|3|3]
history;;
Black Jack was born to a litter of three, with two other brothers. His mom was just a house pet who cared for her humans and watched them during the night. His father was also a guard, but of a flock rather than people. While his father lived on a ranch, his mother lived in town and they would have never met one another had they're owners not wanted to breed the pair. While it was set up, it seemed to have been true love between the two and they never left each others side unless they were forced to. Most of the time Jack's mom would even remain outside with his dad and the flock, no matter how much she hated it. When the puppies were born, Jack's dad would see them whenever he could leave the flock with the shepherd and when the pups were big enough they spent their time outside with the sheep as well.
For a while the puppies even felt that they were part of the flock. After a few months however, the day when they were to be sold came along. Jack was the biggest of the three and was supposed to be kept with his parents and the flock. The other two were very quickly sold on the other hand. Jack lived another two months with his parents until one day, he was taken to town. The shepherd took his dog to town every now and again when he went to sell part of the flock or buy more for it. This day he decided to take Black Jack as well. When the three reached town, Jack was curious to see what life was like when humans actually interacted with each other. He payed close attention to everything and continuously had to have his attention brought back to what was going on so that he was not lost.
While the town was not big, it had its fair share of crime and as Jack was young and naive he felt no animosity toward any people or any dogs. This proved to be very bad for him. As Black Jack allowed his father and owner to move forward while he sauntered a ways behind, checking out the streets and things around him once more. However, before his father could grab him and bring him back up with them, a large man snatched the puppy up into his hands and took of with him. Jack was so shocked he could not shout for help until everyone was out of his vision. Jack was then taken to an area with plenty of other young dogs and was quickly sold off to another man that did not live in the area.
Black Jack had no idea how to get back home and had no idea what happened to his family. He ended up in the outskirts of a large town with a young man. Jack then learned how different life was and after many failed escape attempts, he adapted to the new way of life. While his new owner was not a good influence on him nor where the new dogs that came in and out of his life, Jack learned to deal and live with them and even picked up some of their traits, while still keeping some of his old ones. He then remained there until he was about two and a half years old, when one day, his new owner just never came home. Black Jack waited around for about a day and a half before he managed to dig a hole under his fence and finally escape.
While he originally wished to go and find his family and started to, he had no idea where to start or where to go and dropped the idea after a while. Still it remains in his head and anytime he sees any ranching/farmland, Jack has to check it out... just in case. While now he is a street dog and quite adapted to another new way of life he could easily return to either of his old lives as a pet or a sheep herder no problem, or so he thinks. Although by this point in may be too late for him to change back to his old self. So for now, Jack is just another street dog wandering around and trying to make a better life for himself.[7|3|9]
