Rustic colored coat glittered in the sunlight as the light caught the drops of liquid resting between the hairs and made them shine like diamonds, decorating the husky dog in a glamorous fashion and making him stand out against the beach and the rest of those on it. He loved it here, the sun, the water and even the people. Most of whom were in quite happy moods because they were on holiday and meant to relax. Often, like now, they would play with him and sometimes even give him something to eat. He didn't appear to be a stray, he was too friendly and comfortably around humans for them to instantly assume he had no home.
At the moment he was being frown a frisbee, his eyes completely focused on the flying disk as his legs pumped to let him keep up with it before is started to make an arc downwards towards the earth and he propelled himself forward into the air and clamped his jaws around it, landing easily before trotting over to the human who's it was and dropping it at their feet. He had tired of his game though, he wanted something new to occupy his attention with so he turned away from there and ran towards the water, just playing in the shallow parts while he moved towards an emptier part of the beach to lay down on the sand close to the water's edge and just watch it.
He was quite lonely, having been abandoned by his other two friends after they had finally recognized their love for each other and gone off to start a family and forget about him. Normally he was fine on his own but it had been a long time since he'd last really had a friend or spent any time with an actual dog. The last while he'd mostly found himself around humans, maybe deep down he wanted one of them to take him home and love him like a part of the family.. He just wanted someone who would love him, that wasn't too much to ask was it? He didn't really think so. but then, he wasn't the smartest so he could be wrong.

Insylus Spread out on her side, the young female greyhound lay atop a large sand dune on an unoccupied part of the beach. It was days like these that she loved, the sun, the heat, being able to just chill out in your surroundings with the soft breaking waves as a gentle, but natural background music. At first glance you wouldnt be able to notice her sleek form resting on the sandy slope, her beautiful shiny pelt matching almost with the soft golden sand. Every now and again she would flicker her banner for no reason other than to feel a soft breeze swirl around it.
After what felt like an age, she rolled to her belly, her chocolate coloured optics viewing the populated part of the beach from the top of the dune. Her semi-pricked ears lifting forwards with curiosity as she observed the strange two legged creatures. Her memory of humans was vague, she was only days old when her mother, siblings and herself were kicked onto the streets. Her adoptive father had always taught her to be wary of humans, not all of them were nice, so as a rule, she tried to keep away from them as much as possible, but she finds them fascinating and will sit for hours just watching them from a distance.
Her thoughts were interupted as a dog playing with the humans zipped into her line of vision. At first glance he appeared like a pet, playing, barking, fetching, he was intriguing to watch, he seemed so at ease with them, like it was a second nature. A smile crossed her dark maw as her brilliant orbs followed the husky's movement as he played... Frisbee? After a while, he seemed bored with his game, he now wandered lonely down her side of the beach, where he stopped by the water and lay down. Rising steadily to her dainty paws, she shook her slim, athletic frame to remove any sand, then proceeded down the dune slope towards the water. She crossed the flat beach, her long, slender legs moving rhythmatically, her paws barely skimming the terra as she trotted gracefully to the sea.
Deliberately ignoring the male, making it seem like she hadnt noticed him, she slows to a walk, her strides long and elegant, she pads along in the opposite direction of the male, her paws in the sea and the sun bouncing off her stunning red fawn coloured pelt.

When a dainty greyhound came into his view a friendly smile situated itself upon his face before he got up and slowly, casually made his way over to her, catching up easily and letting his strides change to match hers as best he could while he walked next to her now. "Hi." He commented calmly, his tone cheerful and just friendly as he glanced at her then looked ahead again. "I hope I'm not bothering you but you looked like you could use some company. I'm Rusty." He told her in the same tone, his tail wagging slightly in a friendly gesture for a moment before falling still behind him. His eyes traveled again to the humans and the balls and flying discs that were so fun to play with but then he turned his attention to the female next to him.
His eyes tracing the smooth streamline shape of her body, a smirk appearing on his face for a moment before he looked ahead of them at where they were going. He would wait patiently for her to speak before he would say more, not wanting to be rude and or overbearing. He wanted to try and make a good first impression since they seemed to count the most to some dogs and he wanted to make a friend so he wouldn't be as lonely anymore.

Knowing full well that the male would follow her, she proceeded onwards with a smile. She paused momentarily as he drew beside her, a calm, soft smile spread over her darkened maw as he spoke. Moving forwards again, her paws making the tinyest splashing sounds as the entered and left the water. Keeping her sleek head facing forwards, she noticed him looking her over out of the corner of her eye, not turning to look at him she then spoke, "No Rusty, you aren't bothering me, its nice to meet you, i am Insylus... Insy", her voice was quiet, relaxed, and as soft as silk.
Lurching forwards into an elegant trot, taking long, smooth strides, she pulled ahead of him and moved up the beach towards the rocks, finding a small shaded spot, she sat back on her haunches, her chocolate eye on the husky. Giving a little nod in the direction of the humans as he approached she spoke again, "Your not with the two legs, but why do you play with them?" curiousity tickled her tongue, she was intelligent enough to know a stray from a pet after a few minutes of observation. She sat there, her head held high, her whip like banner curled around her, the sun dancing across her stunning pelt, she brought her semi-pricked auds forwards, waiting for his response with keen interest.

He listened to her words and smiled happily, he liked her name, it was quite interesting. Taken by surprise a little when she launched herself forward, leaving him standing there for a second in a bit of a daze as he blinked and watched her, wondering what he had done to make her run from him. Though it didn't last long before he took off after her, catching up to her just as she sat down and listening to her words while he came to a stop, panting a little for a moment or two to regain his breath, shaking himself in attempt to get the heat to leave his thickly coated body alone before he sat down in the shade as well.
Seeming to think about her question for a few seconds before answer. "Because they're company. They give me attention and love even for just those few moments, and its fun." He said with a smile, his eyes gazing out towards the humans. "The thrill of chasing down the flying disc, your legs pumping against the earth and then the taste of the cold plastic between your teeth... It's better than being lonely." Rusty wasn't really one to play around and hide his thoughts or emotions, it wasn't anything to be ashamed about so he might as well just tell her his thoughts truthfully. As apposed to telling that he did it because he liked the humans, which he did in a way but he wouldn't go and be with them just because of that. He was smarter than to expose himself to their brutality that he knew hid away beneath their carefree and cheerful appearances.
Though he also knew that this was not true for all humans, some had good natures and were truly caring and loved the dogs that served them loyally as their pets. But Rusty had never had such an owner and didn't know how it felt to be with someone like that, he had always just been around strays like himself, surviving together and trying to make the most of their lives. His deep eyes turned towards her, taking in her expression as he waited to hear what she might say.

Her fine, smooth head lay tilted to one side, her eyes sparkling with interest as the words rolled off his tongue. The more he said the more intrigued and curious she became, she had only seen pets act with humans in the way this stray husky did. She smiled, then lowered her head to look at the sand "I was always taught to be wary of the two legs" she lifted her head and looked at him again, her sweet face full of interest, "how can you trust them?".
She let her long, slender forelegs slide forwards in the sand, lowering her beautiful frame into a laying position, she cast her gaze past the male, staring at the small two legged figures in the distance, some laying about, others splashing in the water, smaller ones runinng up and down. She brought her attention back to Rusty, her chocolate eyes settling on his form, admiring the colouration of his fluffy pelt. She flicked her orbs up to his face, her eyes locking with his briefly before she turned her head and gazed at the sparkling blue waters, her auds pricked forwards keenly, awaiting his answer.

Rusty's eyes followed her movements as she lay down as his keep audits listened to the words she spoke, a thoughtful look crossing his face as he had to search his mind in order to actually find the answer to what she'd just asked him. "I don't know." He answered after enough time had passed for a silence to settle, his tone thoughtful as he cocked his head to the side slightly, his eyes having moved to where he could see the humans as he continued to try to think, not happy with his own answer to her question. "I guess I just do and hope they don't give me a reason not to." He commented further, turning his eyes back to her.
He moved to lay down as well, letting his head rest on his paws as they lay extended out in front of him. Playing did tire you out after all and a little rest would be nice. Since that was what he'd intended to do before she'd caught his attention after all. After a second he moved so that he was laying flat on his side instead of on his side, having dropped onto his side away from her so he could watch her still, though not in a manner that was rudely staring or anything close, just interestedly waiting for her next question and assuming that there would be one.
