.xx.lightning strikes.xx. .xx.inside, my chest to keep me up at night.xx. I walked through the yard, my paws hitting the ground in soft, rhythmic thumps. Thump.Thump.Thump. I counted them in my head. It took three strides to get from the rusted old truck to the door-less refrigerator. I could feel the sun beat down on my copper fur, warming my flesh. I paused for a moment and looked around me. The rays glinted of the still-gleaming metal that was visible under the rust. Aged, broken down cars, their tires missing and the metal being eaten away with time, piled up along with used appliances and other scraps of useless metal. Humans. Damn they were wasteful beings.
.xx.dream of ways.xx. .xx.to make you understand my pain.xx.
I padded torwards a pile of junk, sniffing the air with my charcoal muzzle. I wanted to go lie in the shade, but I didn't want the space to be preoccupied before I got there. Nope. All I could smell was dirt, rust, and empty space. Wonderful. I trotted over to the shadow of an abandoned, wreck of an old Jaguar car. Thump.Thump.Thump. The time of my pawsteps increased. One, two. One,two. One, two. I hated how I counted everything. Well, I didn't always, but only at times when I couldn't entertain my mind with anything else. I had to do something.I reached the place where the sun didn't light and flopped to the ground, the weight of my body causing a puff of dust to errupt around me. A bit of the dry earth caught in my nose and I sneezed, my body jerking. I hated that dry weather, when the hell were we gonna' get some rain?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I walked around cautiously in the yard, the junkyard. It was messy there, but it wasn't like I gave a care about it. Being a stray is all about being in messy places like this. The sun beat down on my fur, heating up my body. Today was so-so for me. Warm days were fine, but hot days like this just weren't my thing. It got incredibly hot these days, especially in this junkyard. I continued to walk around in the far side of the junkyard where the trucks and cars where. The vehicles without wheels, had dents, and were beaten up. I was very surprised to see a young teenage girl to actually come here and pick out a car. She was slightly mad at her father, but she was somewhat grateful. I saw her pick out a blue car that didn't look too bad. I figured that it hadn't been sitting in this junkyard for too long of a time. I had watched the humans come in and out of here, carrying junk in their hands. They were such wasteful beings. If they keep it up the world will no longer look beautiful. I tried to imagine the world like that, but I couldn't. I didn't want to imagine it like that. I looked up into the sky, the sun shining brighter than ever. Oh, did I long for some cold days or maybe even a little rain. Anything to get rid of this heat.
I let out a deep sigh and looked back down at the dry ground. I panted only a little bit and continued walking through the junkyard. Now I was just searching for a source of cool shade. A place where the sun didn't burn my back. I felt like an ant that had a magnifying glass hanging over it's body, the heat burning it to death. The cars and trucks provided shade, but not good enough. I continued to walk to the point where my paws began to ache. It didn't bother me, though. I actually got used to it after a while. I saw a place where the sun didn't shine. Oh, did I get happy. What slightly bothered me was the scent that I could smell only a bit over the rust and dirt. I sniffed again, trying to figure out what the scent was. A dog. Another dog. Well, I hoped it wasn't were I was going because I was already on my way to the place. I stopped in front of the place only to find that dog lying there already. It was a male. Maybe he was friendly. I needed some company, someone to spend time with. "Hello." I said to him with a bit of a happy tone in my voice.

I saw the other dog approaching, and I kept still, watching it closely. Watching the creature more closely I came to the conclusion it was a female. This always made the situation a little bit better. I was still wary of this stranger, but didn't put forth myself to seem aggressive or lenient. "Hello." Her voice was friendly. A good sign I suppose. "Good morning," I said, inclining my head and pushing myself up as not to be rude. Chivalry rule number one: Never. Be rude. To the ladies. I looked to the sky, the sun blazing down, "Or good afternoon," I added. "Never was good at keepin' track of time."
I flopped back down onto my haunches. It was hot as hell out that day.My tongue lolled from my half parted jaws, my flanks rising and falling rapidly as I panted. I watched this newcomer with my deep brown eyes. She was a pretty little thing, small with wavy blue marbled fur. I lie down in the shade once again, the cool dirt feeling good on the short fur that grew on my belly. I inclined my head to the empty space beside me saying, "If you wish, you may join me. It's awfully hot t'day to be wanderin' about without shade. I panted some more and continued with a gentle bark, " I'm Jacy, by the way. I could understand if this pretty little fea didn't want to stay here with an awful wretch like me. No one stayed around me for too long, it would be nice to have some company for once.
