I laughed quietly, looking around again before putting my head back down to the ground. I sifted through the few leaves there were, digging for some scent till I found something that seemed squirrel-ish to me. I raised my tail, pausing then catching the direction and looking over, sniffing more until, sure enough, there it stood.

I stood completely still, then took a hesitant step foreward, ducking down and creeping towards it. As soon as it noticed me, I bolted, tearing across the ground towards it. I kept going, dodging the trees with my peripheral while keeping my eyes locked on the furry rodent. As soon as I was close enough, I opened my mouth, a rippling snarl erupting instinctively.

I jumped from my position, hackles suddenly bristled. I opened my mouth wider, landing ontop of it and grabbing it in my jaws. I paused, heaving for breath with the creature still in my mouth, now lifeless. I stayed that way for a moment, catching my breath and calming myself. Finally, I turned, trotting back to Blade and dropping it at his feet, rather proud of myself.

Blade looked up as he spotted Lucy digging. He tilted his head, watching, seeing if he would find anything. Sure enough, he found a trail of a squirrel. Blade followed Lucy's gaze to the squirrel, instantly his body's muscles locked. He twisted his ears as Lucy took a step forward. He watched as his friend tore off after the prey. He leaned forward, ready to help if he was needed, but he doubted it since Lucy was covering ground.

He stepped away from the mud, as his friend caught his breathe. He pricked his ears, trying to hear something. Some sort of prey, he heard a bird in a tree, but he was a dog, not a cat. He looked down at the squirrel when his friend dropped the squirrel at his feet. He let his jaws open and his tongue flop off in a pant. "Congrats," he said, nodding toward the piece of prey.

Blade's head snapped up suddenly. He lifted his docked tail. He turned to a rabbit at stand still. He gave Lucy a warning look. He walked side ways, as if he weren't paying attention to the rabbit. He watched the rabbit twitch it's ear out of the corner of his eye. He leaped toward the prey. He watched it turn away in panic. Blade's long legs covered the ground quickly. He slowed as he began to aim to pounce. He bunched his muscles and sprung in front of the rabbit, whipping in front of it. His jaws lunched at it, grabbing it by it's flanks as it turned and tried to scurry away.

I gave a pure dog's grin, wagging my tail fiercly at the approving look Blade gave me. Within seconds though, his attention was elsewhere, and I followed his eyes, quieting my panting to see a rabbit. I was prepared to bolt, but noticed the look Blade gave me and drew back. When he ran, I felt excitement jolt through my body, and I let out a howl of victory when the bloke snagged the creature.

I waited a moment, then snatched up my own catch and bounded over to him. "Good-on-yer mate!" My voice was muffled by the squirrel, which I dropped again next to the rabbit. I grinned at him, "A rabbit huh? I bet I could catch a deer!" I boasted playfully, standing up straighter to make myself look bigger.

Knife Blade pricked his ears and let his docked tail wave in the air as his friend let out a howl of victory.
He let the lifeless rabbit drop from my jaws, adding a cheerful bark of his own.

He let a chuckle escape his maw at Lucy's choice of words. His tongue flopped out in a pant. A laugh burst through Knife Blade as he tried to picture Lucy getting a deer. He couldn't picture it, but Lucy was lucky he was still on his feet as snickers racked his body. "You may be able to bring it down, but I'd love," he put emphasis on the word 'love', "to see you keep up with one." He let another chuckle escape him. "No offense or anything," he said with another chuckle.

I looked around, then saw the playful doubt in Blade's eyes and widened my own. "Oh you doubt my awesome-arse skills, eh? I'll show ya!" I growl jokingly, then turn away, raising my smeller to the air. "Ya seeeeee, with this stocky body of mine, I got a very air-o-din-ah-mic shape that allows me to run REALLY fast!" I had troubles saying aerodinamic, so I grinned at him and narrowed my eyes.

"I could catch twenty deer, before you even get one!" I laughed, then wagged my tail and got into a stance that appeared like I was about to bolt off. I looked at him, then relaxed a bit. "But, uh, first, WE EAT! Can't letta... er... good... catch like this go to waste." I barked, struggling for a term for me squirrel. God Damn, a squirrel. I snorted at myself, then half grinned and bowed my head, snouting the squirrel with a bit of disapproval. "Okay, maybe uh... two deers before you get one."

"Oh. Yes, I do doubt your 'awesome-arse' skills," Knife Blade chuckled, watching as Lucy turned away. He watched in pure amusement as he lifted his nose to the air. He bit his tongue trying not to bust out laughing as he said aerodynamic, or 'air-o-din-ah-mic', as his friend stated.

"Uh-huh. I'm sure you could," He barked playfully. He let another chuckle rack his body as he tried to picture Lucy taking down a deer. He let another chuckle escape his maw as Lucy tried to think of a good description for the squirrel. He watched as his friend gave the squirrel his disapproval. He let a smirk etch on his maw as he changed twenty to two. "Yup. That's what I thought," he replied. He put his paw under the rabbit and jerked his paw up, flipping it over on top of Lucy's squirrel, offering his own catch.

I loved this. I felt like I knew Blade since puphood. Of course, that wasn't the case. But it felt like it. Maybe it was just me, though, thinking this. And Blade laughed at me too. I remember Serendipity. Fell in love and dropped off the face of the earth. Literally. I shook my head to myself, then grinned at Blade.

"Don't underestimate me!" I glared playfully, then sat down. I glanced up, just in time to see Blade toss his rabbit over my squirrel. "Er... you sure?" I blinked in surprise, then looked down at the rabbit, then stood back up and bit into the rabbit carefully to get the fur and stuff away. "You positive!?" I looked at him again.

He glared back at Lucy in mockery. Blade snickered at his surprise. "Yes," he replied. "Yes! I'm absolutely positively positive," he stated. He watched in amusement at Lucy, unable to stop his wagging tail.[/blockquote]
