Frosty. 308. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies. I placed my paws in front of me. One paw at a time to step. One step at a time to move across the forest. I let my tail wag, one side to the other. It waved from left to right in an unheard music beat. I let my pink tongue fall out of my mouth in a pant. I pricked my ears, listening to the crisp noise of leaves crackling under paw. I let my mind wander. Wander away from the peaceful scene in front of my brown eyes. Unconsciously, my walking pace slowed as I pondered in my own head.
I continued walking through the forest, winding my ways through the trees. I jumped suddenly as I heard a stick near by break. I raised my ears, looking around. I felt my nose twitch, looking for the source of the noise. Not spotting it, I warily continued. Over the brown, yellows, and reds I walked. I blinked as a fallen tree lain in my path. I backed up slightly. I pushed against my muscles, causing me to soar over the log. I landed with a dull thud. Yow. I kept my face straight as I landed heavily on my ankles.
With my sorry luck though, I landed slightly off weight. I could have caught myself neatly if it hadn't been for all of the leaves littering the ground. I had landed on some and my paw slid underneath me. I was sent down to the ground with a crash, a startled yelp escaped me. I let out a huff from where I now was spawled on the ground, in a mess of browns, yellows, reds leaves, and a heap of white fur. I felt my muscles tense as I heard a snicker nearby. "Yeah! Alright! Have a laugh!" I huffed, pulling myself to my feet.

Forest! A forest in fall! The leaves come down as you look around - in wonderment and awe!
Oh yes, Jax was in a swell mood just now. Positively spiff, he was, but he wasn't letting the world know. Oh no, that was his secret - for now anyways! Besides, if anyone wanted to share in his frenzied excitement, they need only to come to this fantastical of places, with nothing more than an optimistically positive attitude. Yes indeed, that was all the Jakster could be sure of having right now, but that was all he needed. The colorful leaves in the trees, on the ground, and everywhere in between paired with the luxuriously cool breeze blowing across the forest floor today was an amazingly high tide for him to surf on. Yes, right now he would like to be singing and dancing, if it weren't for just one small thing.
There was another dog in the area.
Oh, and she was beautiful!
Of course, Jax said that about nearly every female he met. There was something about them that was absolute ecstasy to his senses, but he had never even considered the idea of a mate. Oh no, girls were for looking at and flirting with and impressing, but never to be kept forever. You can't keep an unpredictable thing like a female to yourself, no, they are free spirits! Admire them in their natural habitat and state! Glory in their attention! Revel in--
snap!
Oops. That was a twig. The tricolor border collie ducked behind a large tree and grinned to himself. Did she see him? No? And, surprisingly, she didn't call to him! Oh, this was great, how he loved having the element of surprise. It made for a grand entrance, whenever he chose to make it. Yes, wonderful, this was going to be great! But which trick should do? Fly in front of her screaming gibberish at the top of his lungs? She was jumpy enough for that. Or perhaps pounce on her from behind! Oh, but she was a big dog, she might turn and bite him.
Before he could calculate another potentially hilarious stunt, he watched her fly over a log - and heard the thud as she landed badly.
Okay, okay, he couldn't help himself this time. His wide doggie grin split and he snickered to himself. Forget the grand entrance, this was priceless. He had the perfect idea too, and for that, he would need to be close.
Jax was small dog. He knew it, and it was at times like this that he loved it. With a cocky smirk on his muzzle and a bouncy strut in his step that suggested something of his orientation, he strode in front of the floored - aw, she was getting up. Nevermind. He strode in front of the female and looked straight into her eyes.
"Now, what's this?" he said, in false accusatory tones. "Some large, clumsy female has come barging into my forest - uninvited! And what's more, she's made a mess of my darling leaves. . ." He looked around himself with a worried expression, tail flickering with thoughtfulness.
"Well, this simply won't do," he said, looking up at her, "you'll have to put them all back in order, you know." Yes! Perfect! The superiority, the patronizing, the absolutely perfect tone for someone too vain for their own good radiated from his every joint and muscle! Oh, he was proud of himself.
Sadly, the projected seriousness of the moment was broken when a huge grin once again broke across his face.

Frosty. 327. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies. I blinked in surprise as the dog walked up in front of me. Ah, so this was the canine that snickered at my lovely jump. I let our eyes bore into each other before breaking the gaze, taking him in. He was a rather small dog. He seemed pretty young-- oh. Wait! He's speaking.
'Now, what's this? Some large, clumsy female has come barging into my forest - uninvited! And what's more, she's made a mess of my darling leaves. . .' I pulled myself to full height as he began, ignoring the leaves that clung to my fur. And the one that happened to be on top of my head, balancing neatly as if it was supposed to be my hat. I raised an eyebrow at his fretting of leaves. "My apologies.. Yess.. Your poor little leaves got squashed by a huge lump of fur," I sympathized, shaking my head. To my amazement, the leaf on my head stayed put.
'Well, this simply won't do, you'll have to put them all back in order, you know.' "Oh, Yes. Of course! I never thought of putting them in they're correct spot! But.. I do believe your darling leaves are putting up a good fight," I shook up fur coat roughly, trying to dislodge the leaves on it. What a lot of good that did, it just stirred up more.
I huffed, realizing the leaf was still on my head. I glared up at it. I blinked, looking back at the brute in front of me. Yes, He was rather small. Black, tan, and white.. A lovely long coat.. It's long compared to mine anyways. Hmm.. A mutt maybe? Or, a herding dog perhaps? Though I've yet not to run into a pure bred dog with that coloring before.. Anyways. I watched the smile spill across his muzzle. I felt a small smirk creep along mine. "Enjoying yourself much, mate?" I asked.

Jax listened to each of her replies with rapt attention. Yes, yes, play along little pup! How absolutely fitting, she was a joker too! Perhaps not as experienced as himself, but oh yes, she was trying. His tail wagged involuntarily as he listened and watched - and jumped back as she shook the leaves out of her fur. Or, tried to. Indeed, they were quite stubborn. Ah, yes, this was setting him up for a fantastic pick-up line! 'How will she takes to advances?' he wondered briefly, but gave himself no time to consider possibilities.
"I am indeed," he said, in a quieter, softer tone. "You're quite stunning, milady, and I'm rather jealous of those leaves. They appear to share my taste in. . ." He paused, looking her over from tail to nose and licking his chops. "Females." Upon reaching her face again, he looked right into her eyes again, this time making them radiate heat. "Perhaps you would like help with the one your head?" Hoho, yes, lust! Fiery passion! A night of fun in this forest of fashion!
"Though it doesn't matter much, my name is Jax," he said, and took a step forward for every nickname: "or Jaksi. . . or the Jakster. Whichever you prefer, dear." Ahh yes, things were getting creepy. His tail wagged slowly as he looked up at the female, grinning slightly, curious of what her reaction would be. Luckily, he was immune to the awkwardness others might be feeling in his place. This wasn't him, oh no, he was a dog of many, many faces. This wasn't one he adopted often, but it seemed only too perfect at this moment in time.

Frosty. 290. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies.
I shook my coat roughly once more as he seemed to be thinking. AHA! Take that leaves! You are dislodged from my pelt! Except that one on my shoulder... all well.. That will move when I take it off. Or when I walk. Whichever works--wait.. a minute.. what is this bloke speaking about now!?
'I am indeed. You're quite stunning, milady, and I'm rather jealous of those leaves. They appear to share my taste in. . . Females.' I blinked in surprise, leaning back slightly. My lord. Now what the heck? Did this bloke happen to be Bi Polar? He changed attitudes fairly quickly. And, as a younger female of one year old, I was not used to this one in the least. I merely blinked, unsure what I was exactly supposed to at this moment. I stared back at him, almost warily. I felt my back paw brush against the log behind me. If I were to run, I'd have to dodge around or turn and climb the log. Both looked like sorry and horrible escape routes, but.. Wait a moment. Who said anything about escaping?
'Though it doesn't matter much, my name is Jax, or Jakki. . . or the Jakster. Whichever you prefer, dear.' I felt my eyes narrow slightly in a flirting manner. I watched him step closer to me with every name, with a look of almost dazed by a hypnotism. I leaned toward him slightly, hovering just out of reach of him. "Oh, really? I always thought names mattered very much," I murmured in reply. I leaned closer to take another step but never lifted the large white paw off the ground. I curiously wondered if this was the reaction he was expecting.

Oh my, he was intimidating her! She was backing up, haha yes, and appeared to be looking for a way out. Ah, that was probably to be expected; she smelled young, and Jax doubted that she was accustomed to this type of treatment. Sheesh, he hoped so anyway. To think of the things males might do for a bit of action nowadays. Oh, oh, wait, don't think like that! No - no! A frown had creased his face at these troubling thoughts, and once again the mask was discarded.
He looked at her curiously a moment longer before backing away to a comfortable distance. Yet another interesting idea had just occurred to him. Oh, he was a naughty puppy; he was enjoying himself far too much with this broad.
He sat down slowly, front paws together, tail wrapped as closely to him as he could get it. His shoulders hunched, his ears folded back, and he looked at her through slitted eyes. "Yes. . . names are very important." He paused for dramatic effect. "Especially in police work. I'm going to need to know your name and exactly where you were and what you were doing two nights ago." His gaze didn't waver, his voice didn't falter. His face remained stoic, impenetrable as a rock.
Oh yes. . . the face of authority. He would never consider wearing it for very long, but no matter. He was giving this female enough trouble, and after he saw this next reaction he planned to rein it all in. As fun as acting was - no, no, that was an insult! This wasn't acting! No, the Jakster was a performer, an expert in his field, a god of his art!
'Everywhere, my face will be seen, for I am a performer,' he thought, yet another rhyme coming to him. 'I will be on bumper stickers, posters; advertised on every street corner!' Aw, not one of his best, but then he wasn't fond of playing serious either. It was rather murderous to his inspiration. No matter! This twisting road would be straightened out and cleared of fog shortly, yes indeed. Jax liked this female. She was fun.

Frosty. 288. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies.
I paused, watching a frown cover his face. Quizzically, I cocked my head to the side, but did not bother to question this, what did he say his name was? Oh right! Jax. That's it. In my defense, I was rather.. distracted at the time he told me. I blinked, watching his frown turn into curiosity as he backed away from me. I raised an eyebrow, watching him sit down in a business manner. I pricked my ears, not bothering to hide my open signs of curiosity.
'Yes. . . names are very important. Especially in police work. I'm going to need to know your name and exactly where you were and what you were doing two nights ago.' I felt a snicker escape my maw. Police work. I composed myself once more to match his serious mask. I sat down in front of him, causing the last leaf to flutter to the ground. "My name? Now.. I thought you'd ask that before you advanced in a relationship," I said, shaking my head in mock disapproval. I looked back at him, making my disapproval be replaced by a thoughtful, pondering one.
"The name's Frosty," I answered eventually. I eyed him, putting on a mask of wariness that could almost be real. "What? You don't want to know who I was with? Awful Police work.. Tsk. Tsk... I, for one, was in an alley.. What I was doing is none of your business. But, it was indeed dreadful..." I trailed off in mock horror, wondering what his reaction would be to this random made up story that came from no where. Besides my mind.. Odd. Since when do I use the stuff that comes from there?

'Yes, girlie, sit down with me!' What luck! What amazing luck! Who would have guessed that the first dog he would meet on his first tour would be someone he could get along with so fasntastically well? Not him, certainly. He could be optimistic and hope for that sort of thing, but to honestly believe it. . . Why, it would be setting oneself up for disappointment!
On any other such occasion as this, of course.
Relationship? She was still on about that, ey? Keep up with times, up with the times! Everything nowadays is modernized! If you find yourself falling behind, you must catch up or you'll go out of your mind! His tail gave a twitch at this one; yes, there was his genius once again coming out. The mind of a performer cannot be tamed or maimed, oh no! Especially not the great Jakster!
Frosty! Yes, fitting - but only halfway! When one thinks frost, one thinks of the bitter cold of rejection, but alas, this female defied stereotype. Indeed, she was receiving him quite well, and he had to admire her for it. Not many dogs would be able to handle three personality changes in as many minutes. Now now, pay attention Jaksi, the beaut is still speaking!
The horror! Was it true? Could it be? Had he hit the nail right on the head? No, no, it wasn't possible! Was this darling dame fresh out of some troubling accident?
"Milady. . ." he said softly, hoping to strike the effect that this stoic official had a heart, somewhere. "Milady, please," he continued, "you must tell me what happened - and describe the assaulter as best you can. It could be vital to our organization." Oh darn, the concern was seeping through a bit too much. 'Stern, Jaksi, stern!' he reminded himself, and his posture immediately stiffened up again.
"If you do not comply, I shall have to bring you in." He could imagine her sputtering at that one. This little dog, bring her in? Oh, but he was a border collie, and he knew how to herd! Or at least. . . he thought he did. He could learn! A clever beast like Sir Jax would not be slowed by mere technicalities! It was in his blood to be good at such things, it would come to him naturally should the need arise.
But. . . where would he take her?
Set those wheels turnin', little dog, and feel the fire burnin'! If you can't handle the heat, then you'd best take a seat! Into the fire from the pan but knowing Jaksi He has a plan!
. . .
Oh, he was good.

Frosty. 221. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies. I pricked my ears from where I had lowered them in my mock horror. I kept the surprise clean from my face. I couldn't believe he took that seriously.. Ahh.. He's speaking, he must want more details, oh come on, Frosty, be creative.. and realistic. Though, It would be amusing telling him it was a huge bloke that was pink... No! WAIT. Pay attention, the mood swinging canine is speaking!
'Milady. . . Milady, please, you must tell me what happened - and describe the assaulter as best you can. It could be vital to our organization.' I closed my eyes, my muzzle pointed to the ground in 'grief.' I was internally dying with laughter. But, I cannot do that at the moment, that would ruin this interesting.. err.. moment. I spoke, layering my voice with grief. "Alas, I can not!" I gasped out, looking up at him.
'If you do not comply, I shall have to bring you in.' "Then, to my utter.. horror.. you'll have to drag me with you," I answered. I would not doubt he would take me with him. Nor can I say I would protest. The first real company in forever, and he was sweet..and amusing. Since I didn't doubt his words, I curiously wondered where he was planning on bringing me to..

Jakster, oh Jakster, what wit and such style! Jakster, my Jakster, your own clever guile!
Yes, an idea; a great idea, a clever idea, a wonderfully fantastic idea had just occurred to him, and all it would take was the right answer from her! 'Please, my dear, play your part' he thought; he prayed, 'please, do refuse me! Say no!' That was all he dared ask of her now, all he needed! Should she take her cue, it would be perfect, so wonderfully swell, that she should bound for joy and cry out in a chorus of spontaneous laughter!
She looked to the ground - Jax could feel his hope rising - and, yes, there it was! And perfectly played, absolutely perfect! Oh, had he ever dared doubt this amazing female? Shame, shame on you Jaksi! To doubt your fellow performers is to insult the business! Oh, but enough of that, she's not done yet, oh no!
For a moment, his random thoughts stopped; ceased; froze in place with utter amazement. This female, this Frosty, had just done him a great service. Whether she was aware or not, she had set him and herself up, aligned them perfectly for a kiss shot the likes of which had never been seen! This was it! The time was now! Strike the cue ball, hit a solid, chain reaction to the eight ball, and sink it - sink it into the corner pocket! To win!
"Is that so, milady. . ." he said, barely able to conceal his elation. "Then I must apologize in advance." He got to his paws, stood at his full height, and looked straight in her eyes as he said, with the eloquent and dramatic pride only capable of performers:
"I am the master Jax, and you have successfully played your part. I am a performer, and a mighty spiff one at that. The world is my stage, and I plan to tour it!" He stopped a moment, not sure where he was going with this. It was true; he had planned to see as much of the world as he could before dying off somewhere. He had never considered having a travel-buddy before though.
Nonetheless! To be on board with such an amazing improv actress as this would be a dream! An inexperienced beauty, his to train, to tutor, to admire, to perform with for as long as she stayed by his side!
He sighed dreamily.
"Would you do me the honor of joining me, Frosty, my dearest?"

Frosty. 341. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies. 'Is that so, milady. . . Then I must apologize in advance.' 'Apologize for what exactly?' I wondered curiously, but did not speak the words as he stood up. I pricked my ears, wondering what magical, random words would bloom from his lips. Or what kind of change of action would dawn upon this brute.
'I am the master Jax, and you have successfully played your part. I am a performer, and a mighty spiff one at that. The world is my stage, and I plan to tour it!' I smirked at his praise, but didn't interrupt. I listened to his praise her himself and his desire. I cocked my head to the side, wondering what exactly that would feel like. To be able to change into a whole new person and bring smiles upon stranger's maws. Mostly, I was pondering what my successful 'performance' had to do with all of this..
I gazed steadily as he stopped. He seemed to be pondering on what to say next. I wondered if he planned this as he went along, or just so happened to make it up on the spot as he went along. It didn't matter, really. It made no difference to the amount of amusement, and he already acted wonderfully, so why would he need to think and practice?
He sighed, a slightly glazed look in his eyes. I wondered if he was thinking about finishing his desires of seeing the world, meeting new dogs, doing what he seemed to love best- Preforming. I had always admired the ones who had the talent for it. He was magnificent at it. He would be going places, I could feel it.
'Would you do me the honor of joining me, Frosty, my dearest?' This, indeed, did startle me. I almost choked on air in surprise. I felt my eyes widened, now is this what he was thinking of just a few seconds ago? I let my eyes sink to normal. "Is thee worthy of thy acquaintance?" I asked, quirking an eyebrow.

She looked so surprised! For a moment, doubt reared its ugly face in his mind's eye - but it quickly hid back in the shadows. Worthy? Worthy? Although Jax couldn't tell the exact meaning of the question, he knew for darn well that they were both worthy! Err but there was that bit about of thy acquaintance. . . What was thy? Was it my? Or was thee my? Or was thee you? Or I? For a moment, the Jakster was honestly confused, and his eyes crossed. Archaic talk! Why could he never get the terms straight?! This could be his downfall!
He immediately decided to go with being vague. His eyes uncrossed the instant he started speaking.
"My lady," he went on in theatrical tones, "the events that have just occurred here are perfect evidence that we are perfect for one another! It is true, you may be lacking in experience," he paused for dramatic effect, looking weary for a moment; but immediately his expression changed to one of joyous whimsicality again. "But that will not be a problem! You are with a professional, and as long as I have a beautiful dame such as you at my side," he bowed suddenly, and looked up at her with an odd mixture of confidence and admiration, "I would be a fool to let the opportunity go to waste."
He stayed bowed that way - paws splayed but flat on the ground, head tilted up to look her in the eyes, tail curled over his back - partially to hold the effect of respect and partially to stretch the kinks out of muscles from playing Authority. Plus it was fun. This face, that of Diplomacy, was one of his favorites. It was hysterical to be unnecessarily dramatic for the sake of presenting one's case. He felt that this one had gone well, and had no doubt that she would say yes.
Oh indeed, the Jakster had himself a girl! Perhaps later they would be on stage, and he would take her for a twirl! Yes, dancing, which dogs usually find iffy; normally for humans, but he found it spiffy! For she was gal of uncalibrated degree of wonder and wit, of talent and beauty!

Frosty. 333. for Jax. Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but attached are a thousand lies.
I watched, amused. I never thought proper words I used every day would get this bloke confused. It just seemed impossible. But if there is a will, then there's a way! And I always seem to find the way.. Not really.. But it was a rather nice thought.. I watched him cross his eyes in obvious confusion. I felt a smirk creep along my maw. I wiped it clean as he uncrossed his eyes and began to talk.
'My lady, the events that have just occurred here are perfect evidence that we are perfect for one another! It is true, you may be lacking in experience, But that will not be a problem! You are with a professional. and as long as I have a beautiful dame such as you at my side, I would be a fool to let the opportunity go to waste.' I felt a smile play along my lips. Not some mock emotion, or a pleased smirk, but my actual smile. I watched him, my amusement evident. Ah, Yes. I was inexperienced, but I gave it a try, and it seemed as if this try was worthy of a professionals opinion. I wondered if this was normal. I was sure a dog would play along, atleast some younger and care-free ones. So why me? Why does he choose me for his theateric partner? I shook my head, "I highly doubt I'm a thing close to beauty, but I suppose it would be foolish for me to argue?"
I tilted my muzzle every so slightly, looking down at him. I felt my smile widen. Oh, how could I refuse? He had me, We both knew it. "Oh, alright," I answered loosing my acting voice to something that seemed more flatter, or more realistic. "You know you won as soon as you offered it, too," I added in an accusing tone. I felt my tail wave side to side, in a unheard melody of happiness, enthusiasm, and amusement.

He watched her smiling - my, was she pretty - and felt sure that he could have said the words with her had his chest not swelled so full of happiness that it stopped him breathing.
But only momentarily. That accusatory tone, oh so befitting to her figure! She could certainly pass as the sarcastic one with an ever-present smug smirk of satisfaction! Take that, alliterations!
"Of course my dear!" he said, hopping back to his full height - which wasn't much. "We performers have a sixth sense for knowing if we're getting through to someone. It is a necessity, you see. Otherwise we won't realize when we're making a fool of ourselves!" He laughed in a short, rapid hahaha! before continuing: "But you'll learn that soon enough, dear." He winked before dodging around her and leaping gracefully on to the log she had tripped over before.
Between squinted eyes and with his tail held at attention, he surveyed the area with an air of seriousness. First he looked up at the trees - 'Colors hung in suspension'; then at the ground in the distance - 'Too far to see clearly'; at the ground surrounding the log - 'A fall rainbow convention'; and finally back at Frosty - 'Someone I plan to hold dearly'. Yes, that was a good one. A bit sentimental, but fun nonetheless. Perfect to describe his first audience of a talented young female!
He grinned, breaking the serious silence. "I think the leaves look better in their new places, yes indeed."

It is a necessity, you see. Otherwise we won't realize when we're making a fool of ourselves! But you'll learn that soon enough, dear.' "Of course they do, but it's not every day I'm lucky enough to walk into one," I answered. I watched him dodge around. I spun around, catching a glimpse of fur in the air before he landed. "With you teaching me, I have no doubts," I answered honestly. I raised my paws so they laid on the log. I watched him, my ears pricked, head cocked in curiosity of what he was thinking in this air of seriousness.
Oh, it'd be useless to even try. I'll get it eventually! Maybe.. doubtfully. These things take time! I'd understand him better on, you can bet on that. I watched him as he surveyed the surroundings. I felt my tail wave lazily. I don't think I've waved my tail this long since I was a pup.. Well.. according to some dogs, I still was a puppy. Sure, I had yet to grow out of a few puppy ways, but it would come. Maybe it wouldn't, with Jax as my teacher.
'I think the leaves look better in their new places, yes indeed.' I flashed him a smile once her broke the silence. I surveyed the leaves silently, a look of pondering and judging on my face. "Really? I thought this view of the leaves were getting old already.." I trailed off, smirking at him. "But of course, they do look quite lovely," I agreed with a curt nod.
